![]() Parallax scrolling is no longer new, in fact, it’s almost a requirement for websites, especially for one-page web designs. The sensation of depth and dimensionality creates a faux-3D effect which can make designs feel more immersive. Scott Kellum and Brenna O’Brien worked up a Sass mixin for it a while back which makes it even easier. Parallax scrolling is a visual technique that’s used to create a sense of movement, fluidity, and depth, giving websites an instant premium feel and wow-factor. You are free to modify, save, share, and use them in all your projects. It’s a devilishly clever (yet simple) combination of 3D transforms to push the element away from the screen, affecting it’s scroll rate, while adjusting the scale so the element appears at it’s original size.
![]() ![]() ![]() Overall, the dragon’s head uses 7 1/16 red, 60 1/32 red and 4 1/64 white pieces. The body can be kept straight for now, or you could try to form its final shape. Two red 1/128 pieces are later used to connect the body to the head. The 1/128 yellow pieces are inserted afterwards to make the dragon spikes. This is repeated along the length of the body. However, it is the simplest to construct.Įach pair of red pieces are joined by a single yellow piece. The body of the dragon takes the longest to make, since it consists of 90 1/32 red, 45 1/32 yellow and 44 1/128 yellow pieces. This makes it easier to connect togther.Įach of the dragon’s feet uses 15 1/32 red and 3 1/64 white pieces.Įach foot is identical. It is best to start from the base, and try not to compact the pieces together until the body has been made. The tail requires 3 1/16 yellow and 8 1/16 red pieces. Pieces are rotated at each connection to produce a stepped effect. To make the horns, 36 1/32 yellow pieces are required, 18 for each horn. A summary of all the pieces used is given at the end of this post. ![]() Instructions can be found here or here.Ĭonstruction of the dragon is shown below with the number of pieces required for each component detailed alongside. However, this is not recommended as it is too heavy and the pieces can bulk out easily. For this particular origami, I used 150gsm red paper and 160gsm yellow paper. Normal printer paper at 80gsm is perfect. I have tried to keep the design and construction as close to the original as possible, but inevitably there will be differences. That photo is the only reference, so here is my version. You're on your way to making an origami dragon! Go to Next page to continue.I have been wanting to create a modular origami dragon for a while, but have never found any instructions or good references until I came across Samuel Ferreira’s dragon. Step 7: Fold the top layers of both sides to the center. Step 6: Make the left flap stand vertically, then open and squash down. ![]() Step 5: Turn the paper over so we can repeat the last step. Step 4: Open and spread the top flap, then crease the left and right sides so you can flatten the flap down. Step 3: Now fold the triangle in half by taking the left corner and folding it to the right. Step 2: Fold the paper in half by folding the top corner to the bottom corner. If you only have regular 8.5x11 paper, follow these instructions to make a square sheet. Step 1: Start with a square piece of origami paper. Read the steps and look at the images carefully and you'll get this awesome origami dragon flapping in no time. The trickiest fold is probably the wing, but the step by step instructions should guide you through it because it's really not hard at all. The folds are pretty simple and the pictures are pretty self explanatory. Fold it and see for yourself how this origami dragon can be so simple, yet so awesome. Yes, there's the neat little horned head and cool dragon tail, but the wings stand out above all with it's mid flight curvature and gothic form. Besides being entirely foldable and not too complex, it can also flap when you pull its tail! It looks awesome, it's easy to fold, and you can play with it. I designed this origami dragon so I may be biased ), but I have to say that this is one of the coolest looking ones while being one of the easiest to fold. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The 2020 Palisade’s secret sauce is its cushy ride. The AWD system splits torque front to back, up to 50 percent toward the rear, and helps the Palisade scramble up dusty roads or snowy driveways. An AWD Lock mode can force torque to the rear wheels, up to 40 mph. When equipped with all-wheel drive, which is a $1,700 option, the Palisade is surefooted, although its long and wide dimensions aren’t necessarily off-road friendly. ![]() In the Palisade’s multiple drive modes (Comfort, Eco, Sport, Snow, and Smart) the transmission behaves appropriately and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters riffle through gears for climbs or descents. That transmission is an 8-speed automatic that’s more than up to the challenge. The trusty 291-hp V-6 shuttles the Palisade around town and at highway speeds confidently and has surprising mid-range punch for passes between 60 and 80 mph once the transmission kicks down a gear or two. The Palisade is exclusively powered by a 3.8-liter V-6 and 8-speed automatic that drives the front or all four wheels, depending on your needs and depth of pockets. Not every family vehicle needs to be a sports car and vice versa. Soft enough to be a bona fide sleep machine, the 2020 Palisade is just right for a family vehicle. The Hyundai is softer, with more elegant touches, evidenced by its satin finished grille and chrome kickup on the body sides. It’s one of the most expressive designs from Hyundai to date, and that says a lot. A large, block “Palisade” badge spans the wide liftgate above a short rear bumper and exposed exhaust. Around back, the same vertical elements from the front frame the rear taillights. Hyundai’s designers: The Palisade is tough. Along with black near the edges of the rear passenger doors, the chrome’s contribution is a visual trick meant to make the roof pillar look bigger and stronger. In the dark, it reads even wider than the crossover’s 77.8-inch width would indicate.Īlong the body sides, chrome trim skips the norm instead of outlining the windows, the chrome trim dips sharply toward the rear wheel. Split headlights, top to bottom, push the Palisade’s signature toward the corners. The Palisade’s grille is imposing and upright, a honeycomb pattern framed by a silver-painted material that’s more durable than it sounds, engineers even developed a “liquid silver” paint process that imparts the finish with a matte, durable look that’s supposedly resistant to chipping. The vertical, bracketed LED daytime headlights that push away from the grille are distinctive (perhaps divisive, too), and Hyundai designers call them the car’s “crocodile eyes.” Up front, the Palisade’s unique face has a reptilian quality-and we don’t mean our deep-seated collective unconscious. With the Palisade, Hyundai begins a new design era, migrating away from the blandness of their previous crossovers. The 2020 Palisade is the top of the food chain for Hyundai’s set of crossovers and SUVs. ![]() ![]() ![]() “I’m hoping you can help me” is a great choice for professional contexts. This is usually called a loop device (and not a loopback device), but the term loopback file interface is occasionally used. To mount a disk image in Ubuntu, you could run: sudo mount -o loop image.iso /media/ label So there are a few other ways loopback is use in Ubuntu that should not be confused with the loopback device in networking. The general concept of loopback is a mechanism through which a message or signal ends up (or loops) back to where it started. But you can add any name including loopback to your /etc/hosts file, with 127.0.0.1 as its address, and it will act like localhost. If you come from a Windows background, you might expect loopback to itself be a synonym of localhost (and thus to be able to ping loopback, connect to servers on loopback, and so forth). All the 127.*.*.* addresses identify your computer on the loopback interface, but a server program can decide to bind just to a specific IP address. However, if you try to connect to, it will not. So if you want to experience the same site others do, the best course is usually to connect to your own server. But it is also helpful when a server offering a resource you need is running on your own machine.įor example, if you run a web server, you have all your web documents and could examine them file by file. ![]() The loopback device is sometimes explained as purely a diagnostic tool. This is important for troubleshooting (it can be compared to looking in a mirror). The loopback interface does not represent any actual hardware, but exists so applications running on your computer can always connect to servers on the same machine. When a network interface is disconnected-for example, when an Ethernet port is unplugged or Wi-Fi is turned off or not associated with an access point-no communication on that interface is possible, not even communication between your computer and itself. It is used mainly for diagnostics and troubleshooting, and to connect to servers running on the local machine.
